Another Truck Goes Off The WB 401 In CK

Chatham-Kent OPP are charging another truck driver with careless driving after a second transport truck went off the road on the westbound Hwy. 401 near Merlin Rd. this week.

It's the second time in two days a transport truck has gone off the road in that same stretch of the highway.

Police say in this case, a transport truck driver lost control of his big rig at around 9pm Wednesday and ended up in the ditch on the north side of the highway.

No injuries were reported, but OPP did have to close the westbound lanes of the Hwy. 401 for about an hour and a half early Thursday morning to tow the vehicle out.

A 25-year-old man from Prince Edward Island is now charged with careless driving.

In a separate crash early Tuesday morning, a transport truck went off the road in the same section of the westbound Hwy. 401, through a guardrail, and up onto the side of a hill at the Merlin Rd. overpass. You can find a photo of that crash below.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was later charged with careless driving.
