A Chatham-based scrapbooking store is getting ready to give back to the community through journals.
Kim Hinnegan, owner of The Paper Pickle, is hosting a class where people can create two 6 inch by 8 inch spiral-bound journals. She says people can take one of the journals home, while the other is donated to the Chatham-Kent Women's Centre.
"I was approached a few years ago by an employee at the Women's Centre and she told me that journals are very important to the women and children coming in," she says. "Each person was given a journal, and there they can write their thoughts and feelings."
Hinnegan says she held a journal-making class back in July, and because of the response, she's decided to do it again.
"It's a nice, small, intimate sized [class] where you're going to learn some great stamping techniques," she says. "You're able to give back to the community as well. It's a really feel-good class."
Hinnegan says between the classes and their journal donation drive, about five to six dozen journals will be going to the Women's Centre.
