Decision Day For Water Wells First

Water Wells First should find out on Monday afternoon if members can continue holding lawful protests at North Kent Wind sites.

North Kent Wind is trying to stop blockades and an injunction hearing was held on Friday.

Justice Kirk Monroe says he'll have a decision on Monday at 2pm.

Monroe says he "doesn't want to stop lawful protests or freedom of expression" but adds "stronger language surrounding intimidation and harrassment is needed before he issues a court order."

Mark MacKew, the lawyer for Water Wells First spokesperson Kevin Jakubec, says "the group has reached an agreement with North Kent Wind to protest lawfully and not interfere with the wind turbines."

Jim Bunting, the lawyer for North Kent Wind, says "tensions remain high and he fears that vandalism will continue."

He told the hearing on Friday that Water Wells First members have trespassed, threatened North Kent Wind officials, smashed a truck window, and vandalized a crane. He added that violence is possible.
