Nominations Open For Business Excellence Awards

Nomination forms are now available for the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce's 130th Business Excellence Awards.

According to the president and CEO of the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce, Gail Hunt, nine different awards are currently up for nomination:

  • Young Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Young Business Individual of the Year
  • Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Business Individual of the Year
  • Business of the Year (Three categories)
  • Corporate Citizen of the Year
  • Citizen of the Year
Hunt says the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce has revamped the Business of the Year category. She says over the summer, her team worked on an in-depth review of how businesses fit into the municipality of Chatham-Kent.

"We've opened it up to three various categories. Being one to ten employees in the small category, 11 to 50 employees in the medium category, and then the large category is 51 plus," says Hunt.

Nomination forms must be returned no later than 2pm on November 30 to the Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce, located at 54 Fourth St. in Chatham. Hunt says self-nominations are welcome.

"We have a wonderful celebration already secured for March in 2018. We will be hosting at Club Lentinas. There's a nice gala evening, where each of the recipients will receive some promotional recognition [and] a video that is showcasing their business or themselves. They do, of course, receive a wonderful Plexiglas award that they can showcase in their place of business as well," she explains.

She says these businesses set great examples for other people in community thinking of starting up their own business or looking for ways to improve.

"It helps showcase Chatham-Kent right across the globe. With technology today, these type of awards and recognitions can be used for marketing and for showcasing, not only their business, but Chatham-Kent as a great place to work and play," says Hunt.
