Extended Heat Warning For CK

Keep a close eye on elderly neighbours or relatives and try to keep them cool if you can.

That's one of the messages from the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit as they have issued an extended heat warning with very hot temperatures expected over the next couple of days.

Officials are also asking you to check up on people who are very young, people with chronic illnesses, and even healthy people who are participating in strenuous activities without taking the proper precautions.

A release from the health unit says the warning signs for heat-related illness may include: rapid breathing, dizziness or fainting, vomiting, rapid heartbeat, extreme thirst, and decreased urination or unusually dark yellow urine.

Anyone who is experiencing these symptoms should cool off as soon as possible, drink plenty of fluids, and rest.
