Festival Of Golf In CK Beats Last Year's Mark

This year's Festival of Golf in Chatham-Kent is and will be putting smiles on many faces.

Mike Genge with the Chatham-Kent Children's Treatment Centre Foundation says around 150 golfers played at Willow Ridge Golf and Country Club on Friday and raised $60,000 for local children.

Last year, the tournament raised just over $53,000.

Genge says a good time was had by all.

"We have everything from mariachi bands to belly dancers so people are having a blast. It's turned out really well. We actually sold more tickets than we did last year," says Genge.

Golfers had a chance to win $1-million in a hole-in-one challenge, a new Ford Mustang, a Fender guitar signed by Bruce Springsteen and a vintage pinball machine.

Genge says people walked away with tonnes of prizes.

"We have a vintage pinball machine, a vintage Miss Packman machine, we have a set of $4,000 golf clubs, we have diamond jewelry and Prada sunglasses that are all in one package," Genge says.

Genge says this golf outing isn't your average tournament.

"We don't give away booty bags and bags with golf balls, these guys don't want all that stuff. They have one in ten odds of winning a great prize and one in 148 odds of winning a brand new Mustang," says Genge.
