FireFest Rolls Into Chatham-Kent

Antique fire trucks and emergency vehicles are taking over Chatham-Kent this weekend.

FireFest officially kicked off on Thursday night with the first Canadian screening of the film "Only The Brave."

Friday night features a parade of antique fire trucks out to the Boonies Drive-In in Tilbury for a screening of the original "Ghostbusters" movie.

"One of our feature vehicular attractions this year is the Ecto-1, an exact replica from the original '84 Ghostbusters," says Chair Brent DeNure. "These cars are tremendously rare and very, very sought after. This is our third crack at trying to get Ecto-1, and 2017 is the year. So it will be here, and you can't have Ecto-1 here and not show Ghostbusters."

The first 175 cars will get in free courtesy of St. Clair College Alumni Association.

DeNure says FireFest continues on Saturday in downtown Chatham.

"We'll kick off the show at 10am in the morning," he says. "Free to the public, something for all ages. We've got the Junior F.I.R.E Course, which has been a huge hit for youth 12 and under to go and do the six or seven challenges."

"We're going to have a little bit of something for every age group," says DeNure. "We'll obviously have the the rigs downtown, we're expecting probably 85 to 90 rigs. Should just be a dynamite day."
