2018 International Plowing Match Only One Year Away

With the 2018 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo coming to Chatham-Kent next year, the pressure is on for organizers to gear up for the festivities.

Monday marks exactly one year until the five-day event comes to Pain Court on September 18, 2018.

"The planning is going along amazing. Actually, this week the committee is going down to the 2017 match [in Huron County] and we're all going to learn from them. We're going to be shadowing people that are doing the same job as us down there," says Councillor Darrin Canniff.

Canniff says they already have lots of help on board.

"We're signing up volunteers everyday... ultimately, to have the event, we'll need about 1200 volunteers to really pull it off," he says.

As the committee nears closer to event, Canniff says there's lots to do be done.

"We're gonna now start selling plots for the RVs. We're [also] going to start selling tickets [and] a bunch of other things that we weren't previously doing," says Canniff. "Chatham-Kent is going to throw an amazing party!"
