New Animal Shelter Rallies Support At Pet Parade (GALLERY)

A group advocating for a new animal shelter in the community joined dogs of all sizes and breeds to rally support for their fundraising campaign.

The municipality held the parade in downtown Chatham as part of "Celebrate Your Pet Day" and the 12 Days of Positivity campaign.

The parade was also joined by members of Friends of the New Animal Shelter, who attended to show their support and continue fundraising for a new shelter.

"Our campaign is moving along nicely. We are on target to put some shovels in the ground hopefully early 2018, as long as everything goes according to plan. So far, we're doing okay," says co-chair Marjorie Crew.

The proposed new shelter will be built across from the current facility on Park Ave. in Chatham.

"You can donate at any municipal centre across Chatham-Kent, you can also go on our Facebook page, or on our website," says Crew.
