An activist group is urging residents in Chatham Township to monitor their well water.

Water Wells First spokesperson Kevin Jakubec says another resident has stepped forward with complaints of dirty well water, which makes five cases in the area so far.

The group claims that the damage to local water wells which is being caused by the construction and operation of wind turbines in North Kent.

Water Wells First will be holding a public meeting Tuesday night to explain their findings with the most recent cases and explain the procedure residents must follow.

"There's a process and if we didn't have that it would be a disaster -- it would be Dover all over again," says Jakubec. "This time around because we're better prepared and we're aware, we're able to get this documented."

If people are noticing an issue with their water, Jakubec says it's important people call the group.

"It's really important that people contact us so we can help them know what their rights are," he says. "[People] do have protection -- somewhat in those [REA] permits."

The activist group has met with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to go over their concerns. However, Jakubec says he's unsure when/if they will meet again.

A public meeting will be held at the Country View Golf Course at 7pm Tuesday night.
