Chatham Man Wins $32K 50/50 Draw At Bothwell Car Show

A Chatham man is $32,500 richer after winning the 50/50 draw at the Bothwell Car Show on Saturday.

The Bothwell Optimist Club held their 26th annual car show on Friday and Saturday. The two-day long event featured a parade, automotive flea market, car corral, Mega Car Show, and draws.

The Firemens 50/50 draw was announced Saturday at 4pm. Organizer Larry Wolfe says this year's draw was increased by $2,500.

Wolfe calls it a "win-win" situation because the local economy gets a boost too.

"I would say probably 90% of the funds that are raised here stay local. Most of the food booths that are here are churches, firemen, and lodges here, so the money just turns around and goes right back into the community," explains Wolfe.

He adds that some of the funds raised will also help the Optimist Club host more youth functions in the community.

Wolfe says around 6,000 to 7,000 people attended the event, which had over 1,400 cars on display.

"Even when we had a little bit of rain here on Friday, the vendors all did very well... and on Saturday, the field was full," says Wolfe.

According to Wolfe, the organizing committee is already eager to come up with new ideas for next year's show.
