Cruise Kicks Off 29th Annual WAMBO

Wallaceburg is preparing for an influx of boats, classic cars, and fire trucks this weekend.

The 29th Annual Wallaceburg Antique Motor and Boating Outing (WAMBO) starts up at 5pm Friday, with thousands of people expected to show up again this year.

Event chair Bill Wolsing expects they'll have a full show on Saturday too.

"We more than likely will, there are a lot of outside American participants that usually show up the day of," says Wolsing. "Registrations are up for boats, cars, and fire trucks -- we're looking forward to a great weekend."

The first event on the agenda is the opening ceremonies at 5pm Friday -- that'll be followed by a classic car cruise, which starts at 6pm.

Wolsing says the car show on Saturday will only include vehicles from 1983 model and older, but they don't have the same restrictions on who can take part in the parade Friday night.

"Cars will be mustering over at Canadian Tire for the parade between 5pm and 6:30pm [Friday]," says Wolsing. "It can be any car that can participate in the parade."

Organizers don't expect construction on McNaughton Ave. to be a problem, but Wolsing says they are keeping a close eye on the weather.

WAMBO will run from Friday, August 11 to Sunday, August 13.
