UPDATE: Hwy. 401 Reopened After Five-Vehicle Crash In Chatham-Kent

The OPP have reopened all lanes of Hwy. 401 in Chatham-Kent following a five-vehicle, chain reaction crash.

Constable Jay Denorer says three tractor trailers and two other vehicles were involved in the collision in the eastbound lanes of the highway on Thursday at around 3:45pm.

"Due to slow moving traffic in the construction zone and eastbound tractor trailer stopped causing the following tractor trailer to collide into the rear of the first tractor trailer," says Denorer in a news release. "A third tractor trailer collided into the back of the second tractor trailer and two motor vehicles collided into the back of the third."

Police say only minor injuries have been reported.

The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed at Bloomfield Rd. and the westbound lanes were closed at Kent Bridge Rd. to allow emergency crews to clear the scene.  The highway was fully reopened around 9pm.
