Devolder Farms is recruiting experienced millwrights and farm labourers at its job fair in Chatham-Kent.
The job fair began on Wednesday and is being held for a second day at the Goodwill Career Centre in Chatham on Thursday from 9am to 4pm.
Human Resources Manager Nikki Horton says the Devolder Grain Systems division is looking fill a variety of positions, including millwrights, apprentice millwrights, grain bin builders, construction workers, bin construction supervisors, farm labourers, treating and conditioning operators, preventative maintenance workers, and mechanics.
Horton says the most sought-after positions right now are millwrights with agricultural backgrounds and experienced grain bin builders.
"We're looking for several positions, so we're pre-screening people to make sure they meet certain basic requirements that we need for the job and interviewing those that have the basic requirements. Some of the others have been put aside for future consideration or consideration in other positions," explains Horton.
Horton adds that there are also lots of opportunities for training and career building.
"First and foremost, we're looking for reliable people who want to put in an honest day's work for an honest day's pay. A strong work ethic in our company goes a long way for promotion and consideration for advancement. We're trying to get people who are looking to build a career, not just have a job," she says.
