CK Fireworks Planned For Next Year

Chatham-Kent's fireworks committee is already planning next year's show after this weekend's event went off without a hitch.

After being delayed since Canada Day, the long-anticipated fireworks show finally went off Sunday night at St. Clair College Thames Campus.

Organizer Heather Clifford says the event had a great turnout.

"Everything went off as we had planned. The event looks like it drew quite a few people, around 3,000 visitors is [how many] we're assuming came out to the event. We're quite proud with how the event went off," says Clifford.

Clifford says the committee is working closely with the fireworks company K & H to find a new location for next year.

"It looks like location will have to change. It's my understanding that the new Children's Treatment Centre will be going on that location, the north side of McNaughton Ave. W. We won't be able to use that location next year," she explains.

Clifford says they will likely be looking for a new fireworks sponsor as well, as they haven't received word yet from Green Field Global about possibly sponsoring for a second year. She adds that the committee is also looking for new members and volunteers too.
