Closing Pegley Court Tunnel At Night

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) and the municipality are hosting an open-house to go over the closure of the Pegley Court walking tunnel at night.

The tunnel is located underneath the Lacroix Street bridge in Chatham.

"The consultation will give citizens an opportunity to learn more about the nightly closure of the tunnel and a chance to ask questions and discuss concerns with representatives from the municipality and CKHA," as stated in a media release sent by the CKHA.

It's proposed that the gated closure take place from dusk until around 7am, starting September 1.

"The nightly closure of the walking tunnel, which channels off of the Pegley Court parking lot west of CKHA's Chatham Campus, will improve the overall safety of the hospital's staff, physicians, volunteers, patients and visitors," the release read.

The open-house is taking place at the CKHA's Frank and Mary Uniac Auditorium on August 8, from 4pm-6pm.
