Police Briefs – August 5, 2017

A Chatham woman is unharmed after driving into a ditch.

Police responded to the collision Friday at approximately 6:29pm on McNaughton Ave. in Chatham.

Police say the vehicle went off the roadway, rupturing its fuel line and catching fire. The fire was extinguished and the driver, a 44-year-old Chatham woman, was rescued without injuries.

There was approximately $5,000 dollars worth of damage to the vehicle. There were no charges laid.

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man for public intoxication after a fight broke out.

Saturday morning at around 12am, police reported to Sussex St. in Chatham after receiving calls about a fight between two men.

Upon arrival, police separated the two men. However, according to police, one of the men was highly intoxicated and yelling obscenities at the neighbors.

A 34-year-old Chatham man was arrested for public intoxication and transported to police headquarters.  He was released after becoming sober with a ticket.

Police are looking for an ATV that was stolen in Wallaceburg.

According to police, a 2016 Artic Cat ATV was taken from the shed of a residence on Snye Rd. in Wallaceburg between Wednesday and Friday.  The approximate value of the ATV is $5,000.
