Pedestrians Being Warned To Stop Using Bridge

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is reminding the public that the Fifth St. bridge is closed to all traffic including pedestrians.

The municipality says pedestrians have been seen crossing the bridge and removing barricades, as well as fencing. There has also been damages to materials and equipment on the site.

Civic officials are asking that the public refrain from entering the site or crossing the bridge, because it's not safe.  They say entering the site when not authorized is considered trespassing.

Demolition work is set to continue over the next week with work proceeding on schedule.
