Comiskey Brothers Going Into CK Sports Hall Of Fame

Two former Chatham football players are among the four people and one team being inducted into the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame this year.

John Comiskey played five years in the CFL with Calgary and Edmonton.

Comiskey says it's an honour to be chosen and thanks all of his coaches.

"The first thing you think of is how happy you are. Obviously, it's not something you ever expect to be inducted into the hall of fame but it's quite an honour. It's the first thing that came to my mind. I was just thrilled," says Comiskey.

John's brother Dan, who played 13 years in the CFL, is also going into the hall of fame.

He played in Saskatchewan, Hamilton and Edmonton.

Other inductees include hockey player Brian Hind, reporter Mike Bennett, and the 2001-02 John McGregor Boys Basketball Team.

The induction ceremony is September 14 at the WISH Centre in Chatham.

John Comiskey says being inducted is very special and he couldn't be happier.

"When you're a kid playing high school football in Chatham-Kent, obviously this is the last thing that goes through your mind. Who would have ever thought that somewhere down the road I would have had a professional football career and to top things off, being inducted into the hall of fame in Chatham-Kent. It's pretty special," Comiskey says.

John Comiskey says the induction takes him back to the glory days and all the friendships he made.

"I can remember sitting in the locker room when I first started out and just looking at that Stampeder emblem and thinking about how special it was just to be in the locker room and doing what I'm doing and actually getting paid to play a game that you love," says Comiskey.
