'Hockey Day At Dresden Raceway'

Dresden Raceway is hosting its first 'Hockey Day' on Sunday.

Gary Patterson, Raceway Spokesperson, says part of the celebration is a reunion for former Dresden LumberKings players.

Dresden Jr Kings player Dillon Liberty, who was named the OHA Jr ‘C’ Player of the Year, will also be honoured.

Patterson says it should be a great day.

"One of the great staples of Southwestern Ontario, Dresden especially, is hockey.  Chatham-Kent boasts some great hockey teams and players and we're inviting all hockey teams to come out, in particular the Dresden LumberKings," says Patterson.

The reunion starts at 1pm on Sunday.

Patterson hopes 'Hockey Day' becomes a tradition at Dresden Raceway.

Patterson says the LumberKings were a great franchise.

"They won championships in 80, 83, 85 and some great players came through the Dresden system that era.  So, if you played for the LumberKings, you put on the green and gold and stop by.  It's going to be a great day," Patterson says.

Patterson says there could be some NHL'ers at the track on Sunday.

"You never know, there are ex-NHL'ers out there all the time, we're hoping some show up.  We also have a skills competition out there, some target shooting for hockey players, young hockey players as well.  Wear your jerseys to be recognized, we'll get your pictures taken and get them up on our web site," says Patterson.
