Local Churches Celebrating Canada

The Canada Day celebrations in Chatham-Kent will continue past July 1st.

Evangel Community Church, and a number of other churches in Chatham-Kent, are teaming up to put on a free community celebration on Sunday July 2nd.

"We thought, why don't we get together and throw, essentially, a big party where we can just have food, hang out, music, all that sort of stuff, of course fireworks," says Mitch Horner, the Associate Pastor at Evangel. "Really just together with one another so maybe those that wouldn't, generally be mingling, let's do it. Let's push past that and just really get together and have a great time."

Horner says they have lots planned.

"We have, of course, fireworks that'll be capping off the night, and we're really excited for that. Tons of stuff for the kids, bouncy castles, face painting, all the sort of thing, and of course a barbecue. We're really just looking forward to celebrating Canada, and blessing our community."

It all gets underway at 6pm in the field behind Ursuline College on Grand Ave. in Chatham.
