Chatham Kinsmen Fair Opens Thursday

The Chatham Kinsmen Fair will be celebrating Canada's milestone anniversary with a special gift to visitors.

"In celebration of the 150th Canadian anniversary, we're not charging anything to get into the fair this year," says Bob Christie with the Chatham Kinsmen Club. "We would like to have everyone come in if you can, there's no gate fee, no charge at all to come in, and we're glad to have you come."

Christie says the gates for year's fair open at 4pm on Thursday.

It will feature a large midway, a colouring contest, karaoke, and a wrestling show.

"On Saturday we've got an Airsoft competition on, and we've got some seventies band playing in the afternoon. So we're trying to make it real comfortable for everybody," says Christie. "Of course Carter Shows has been there with us for a long time and they do a great job for us."

Organizers will also have a large Canada Flag that everyone is invited to sign.

Christie says all of the money raised at the event stays in Chatham-Kent.

"All of the funds that we get in, they stay in town, stay in the community, they don't go anywhere else," says Christie. "It goes to support minor baseball, minor soccer, Elmer the Safety Elephant, and of course, our national fundraiser, Cystic Fibrosis."
