Canadian Cowgirls Bring The Stampede To Chatham

The Canadian Cowgirls are hosting a dress rehearsal at Chatham's TJ Stables this Saturday as they prepare for the Calgary Stampede.

Group captain Terry Jenkins is grateful for the opportunity to perform at such a big show.

"The Canadian Cowgirls have appeared in events all over North America, but the Calgary Stampede has the reputation of being the greatest outdoor show on Earth and it truly is," says Jenkins.

Jenkins and her crew of 15 horses and 23 female riders leave on June 25 for the July festivities.

"We'll appear in the Banff Canada Day Parade in the heart of the mountains on Canada Day. Then we'll appear in Cochrane, Alberta [and] then onto the stampede grounds where we will ride with Canadian pride for ten days," says Jenkins.

Jenkins says the Canadian Cowgirls are currently $800 short of their $75,000 fundraising goals.

She invites everyone to come out to TJ Stables Saturday at 1pm to watch the rehearsal and support the show. There will be a barbecue for those interested in purchasing food, with all proceeds going towards the Canadian Cowgirls' trip to the Calgary Stampede.

This year's Calgary Stampede runs from July 7 to July 16.
