Navistar Still Waiting For Over 100 Pension Forms

About 140 former Navistar employees eligible to receive a pension from Unifor 127 still haven't mailed in the proper paperwork.

Former Navistar chairperson Cathy Baker says many former employees have either moved or have trouble filling out the pension paperwork.

"I think that the paperwork sometimes is confusing to individuals and Local 127 and Local 135 remain committed to helping the individuals fill it in. They can contact us to have that done," says Baker.

Former Navistar chairperson John Lucier also says a mistake in the martial status form may have slowed the paperwork process.

"The original form that was included in the package was incorrect so a new form has been sent out. That form needs to filled out and sent back," says Lucier.

Former full-time workers at Navistar in Chatham were recently awarded severance pay after a nearly decade-long union dispute.

Temporary part-time employees, on the other hand, are still in the dark about what they will be receiving.

"There's continued conversation in regards to the severance. We're hoping to come to a conclusion of all the people who are included in the next couple of weeks so that the company can begin to send out the letters," explains Baker.

Former Navistar employees applying for a pension must hand in their paperwork by June 16, 2017. Local 127 Unifor is holding weekly information meetings to answer questions about paperwork.
