Smoke Billows From Pig Barn

The cause is going down as undetermined after a fire broke out at a pig barn on Hetherington Rd. near Highgate Monday morning.

According to fire officials, the call came in at around 6:45am.

Fire crews were advised that there were 500 pigs inside the barn at the time, but at this point, it's not clear how many of them were injured from the fire and the smoke.

When firefighters from Station 10 in Highgate arrived at the scene, they saw smoke billowing out of the building and called in support from Station 11 in Ridgetown to help them.

Crews were able to control the scene quickly and were able to leave by 10:15am.

At this point, there's no word on a damage estimate and it's not clear whether anyone was hurt as a result of the fire.
