2017 RetroFest: Chatham's Annual Blast From the Past

Car lovers will be able see a big whole lineup of retro muscle cars and trucks at the 17th annual RetroFest in Chatham.

The event isn't just for car junkies, though. The festival has many fun activities for the family to enjoy, including band performances, vendors, inflatables, and pony rides.

Connie Beneteau from Downtown Historic Chatham Business Innovation Area says this year's festival is bigger and better than ever.

"We're going to have more retro, life-sized games so we've got a life-sized Twister game, we've got life-sized Jenga games, we've got the ever popular zip line, other inflatables, mini putt, the Zorb Ball race track, and a foam pit," says Beneteau.

As for the cars, not just any old ride makes the final cut. Beneteau says only the most retro cars in the best condition will be cruising down Chatham's streets.

"It's always had that 50s, 60s kinda theme to it, but we go back 25 years each year, anything that is 1992 and older will be lined up and that could be a muscle car [or] that could be a truck," explains Beneteau.

She says the festival has always been wildly successful with over 25,000 attendees every year. Beneteau also points out admission to the festival is free and so are most of the events and activities.

Events start Friday May 26, 2017 and run until Saturday May 27, 2017. A full list of events and schedules can be found on Downtown Historic Chatham BIA's website.
