Prescription Drop Off Day

It's time to clean out your medicine cabinet.

Chatham-Kent police are holding a "Prescription Drug Drop Off Day" on Saturday, May 13 from 10am to 2pm at three locations across Chatham-Kent.

Medications can be dropped off at Shopper's Drug Mart on McNaughton Ave. in Wallaceburg, the Chatham-Kent Courthouse on Grand Ave. W in Chatham, and the Shopper's Drug Mart on Mill St. in Tilbury.

Officers are encouraging members of the public to bring their old and unused medications to those locations in order to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands.

Once the medication is collected, police will dispose of it properly.

Chatham-Kent police received 818 narcotic pills and 41 kg of non-narcotic medications during the drug drop-off in 2016.

To date, the local campaign has received 6,070 narcotic pills and 182 kg of non-narcotics.
