Hope Receives Wind Energy Award

Chatham-Kent Mayor Randy Hope is being recognized by the Canadian Wind Energy Association.

Hope accepted the national "Friend of Wind" award during a meeting in Quebec on Tuesday.

The recognition stems from work done in making Chatham-Kent "a provincial and national leader in renewable energy."

During the awards ceremony, Hope asked for the association to consider putting a research centre in Chatham, to focus on renewable energy.

“We have recently partnered with the federal Ministry of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and St. Clair College to establish the National Powerline Training Centre in Chatham-Kent at a cost of nearly $8 million,” said Hope in a media release. “We want to remain on the cutting edge of energy technology.”

Alberta was also recognized at the awards ceremony for their work in group leadership.
