Local Students & Ford Dealership Step-Up To Help Hungry

Victory Ford-Lincoln along with three Chatham-Kent schools have collected 25,000 pounds of food to help feed the hungry.

The food will help those who use Outreach for Hunger and the Blenheim Baptist Church Foodbank.

Mikayla Voets of The Pines has been involved with the WE Scare Hunger campaign for five years and says it's an awesome feeling to be able to help.

"It's just crazy to see how many people begin to understand what it's actually going towards and seeing first hand how you're helping people in your own community," Voets says.

St. Anne School also participated.

The WE Scare Hunger campaign is made possible by Ford of Canada to educate youth about local hunger issues.

Kenzie Regts of John McGregor has been collecting food for three years and says it's a very worthwhile cause.

"Our WE Scare Hunger campaign is absolutely amazing. We have so many students that come in to help around our school that don't usually come to our meetings and it's great to see all of our students come together for something so important like collecting cans for our community," Regts says.

Regts says it's a great feeling to be able to help your neighbours.

She says "I love to see how it goes around in our community and not other places because we do have a need in Chatham-Kent."
