Wet End To March

Environment Canada says March will end on a snowy end for some, but most likely a wet one in southwestern Ontario.

The federal government agency has issued a special weather statement for the entire region, including London-Middlesex, Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex, Oxford County, and Elgin County.

It says a low-pressure system is developing over Texas and is expected to track over southern Ontario. It should make its way into the Great Lakes region by late in the day Thursday and will stick around Friday.

The system will start with rain over much of southwestern Ontario.

North and east of here, some areas will get freezing rain Thursday night, especially above the Niagara Escarpment. By Friday, up to 10 cm of snow is possible from southern Georgian Bay to the north of Lake Ontario.

However, southwestern Ontario is expected to receive significant amounts of rainfall, possibly up to 40mm before it starts to taper off Friday night.
