St. Clair Catholic School Board Trustees Vote On School Closures

Trustees at the St. Clair Catholic District School Board have a very important vote Tuesday night.

The school board wants to build two new elementary schools and close six old ones.

If approved, a report indicates "one school would be in north Chatham for students of Our Lady of Fatima, St. Agnes and St. Vincent" while the other one "would be in south Chatham for students of Georges P. Vanier, St. Joseph and St. Ursula."

Both schools are expected to open in September of 2019 and are subject to provincial funding.

The board also wants to "relocate the French Immersion program from Monsignor Uyen to a refurbished Our Lady of Fatima."

Under the proposal, "all current students and future siblings will be given the choice to attend either the new school or go to St. Anne in Blenheim or St. Joseph in Tilbury as directed under the newly-drawn boundaries."

St. Vincent students will go to the new north Chatham school.
