Ken Deane Says Bye To The CKHA

As one CEO of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) gets ready to step into the role, another gets ready to step away.

Ken Deane was appointed interim CEO at the CKHA in September 2016.

This past week was Deane's last working on site.

"It's been a wonderful experience being here," he says.

Since being appointed, Deane has worked on strengthening the CKHA sites located in Chatham and Wallaceburg.

"It's been a real sense of privilege and honour to be part of this transition and to be part of the team that's putting together some plans to improve the culture, improve our financial performance, [and] improve our internal controls," he says.

During his time working on site, Deane says he's developed an affection for the community and the organization.

"To give you a measure of just how warm the organization is, every Wednesday Rob [Devitt] and I go over to our cafeteria for mac and cheese," he says. "So in honour of that they've named the mac and cheese 'Ken's mac and cheese'. So that's my legacy here."

Deane says he plans to stay connected to the organization in some way but will be spending more time at home with his wife once he officially leaves.
