Union Gas Donates To CK Cyber Pack Robotics Team

A robotics team in Chatham-Kent is once again benefiting from the generosity of Union Gas.

CK Cyber Pack is one of eight Ontario high school student teams receiving a portion of $50,000 to build a robot to face-off against other robots at FIRST Robotics Canada competitions.

St. Clair College is another of the team's big sponsors.

Team mentor Matt Daudlin says the competitions are fun and thanks Union Gas for their support, adding "Union Gas has graciously sponsored for a number of years."

The team is involved in several competitions this month with the regional semifinals in Toronto April 12-15.

The students operate on about $25,000 a year and are always looking for financial help.

Daudlin says Union Gas spends a lot of money worldwide for competitions and to help students with science, technology, engineering and math.

"They provide judges and gold level sponsorships to First Robotics worldwide which is huge dollars," he says.

Daudlin says the students are excited about competing because this robot is the best they've ever built.

"Our robot has been bagged and tagged... and we're preparing for competition," says Daudlin.
