Powers Among Business Excellence Award Winners

The Chatham-Kent Chamber of Commerce has announced the recipients of this year's Business Excellence Awards.

Carolyn Powers has been named Citizen of the Year, and says she was shocked when she heard she won the award.

Powers says she volunteers for many agencies including 56 years as a leader with Scouts Canada. She also runs three bingos and sits on this year's 150th Canada Day Committee.

"I just get into everything. I love all the youth that I've worked with... and I just enjoy volunteering," she says.

Other award winners are Dutch Market for Business of the Year, Tricia Xavier for Professional of the Year, Fred Naclerio for Entrepreneur of the Year, Natalie Devolder for Youth Entrepreneur of the Year and Enviroshake for Industry of the Year.

The awards will be handed out March 30.
