Wesley And Jakubec Won't Be Dining Together

Chatham-Kent Councillor Jeff Wesley is declining a dinner invitation by Water Wells First spokesperson Kevin Jakubec.

Jakubec wanted Wesley to attend the group's public meeting Tuesday night to speak about protecting groundwater and is very disappointed the councillor won't be there.

Wesley says he won't attend because Jakubec hasn't retracted and publicly apologized for, what he calls false and defamatory statements made to the media. One statement in particular claimed that Wesley "cannot be trusted."

The councillor also wants a "Shame Award" publicly taken back.

Wesley was given the award recently for what Jakubec calls misleading the public.

Wesley and his lawyer tell BlackburnNews.com that they're waiting to determine if legal action will be taken.

Jakubec says he has issued an apology and did not mean to hurt the councillor or his family.
