Lighting And Accent Gallery Looking For New Digs

Lighting and Accent Gallery in Chatham hopes to rent a new location in a few weeks.

The business was gutted by Sunday's fire at 701 St. Clair St. and manager Shannon Kelly says her family is looking to have a new showroom by the end of the month or mid-February at the latest.

Kelly says the fire has been devastating.

"The fire has taken us to ground zero. We have nothing in the sense of a business. The entire inventory was destroyed," says Kelly. "Unfortunately, communication went down and trying to get that back, it's unbelievable the stuff you have to think of when this happens."

There have been some bright spots, though amid all of the difficulties.

"The outpouring has been amazing, we've gotten personal letters, Facebook messages, phone calls and dinner offers," says Kelly. "It has been astounding the way the community has come behind all three businesses for this because we might feel like ground zero but we all have hope and joy because of what they've done for us."

Kelly feels confident the business is covered by insurance.

Lighting and Accent Gallery currently has a temporary location next door at Caldwell's.
