More Concerns For Water Wells First

Water Wells First is looking to take the issue of turbid well water to Queen's Park.

The advocate group has held several public meetings to raise awareness of the cloudy water in Dover Township, allegedly caused by the vibrations from wind turbines.

Spokesperson Kevin Jakubec says there will be a meeting Thursday morning to go over the group's next steps. Those steps involve sending letters and discussing the recent well survey residents in the North Kent wind farm area were given.

Jakubec says AECOM Ltd. released a well water survey just before the Christmas holidays with a deadline of January 16.

"We're taking an issue with how rapid and rushed that AECOM has tried to bring that survey out," he says. "It's unreasonable in our view point."

He adds the advocate group has been flooded with complaints.

As a result, Jakubec says letters have been sent to various politicians including Premier Kathleen Wynn and Glen Murray, minister of environment and climate change.

"There is a condition built in condition G10, which if there's a number of public complaints the MOE [Ministry of Environment] can direct the company to take corrective actions and so we're using that condition," he says.

With the several letters sent, Jakubec says they're hoping to have the recipients sign their petition.

"A petition which would be qualified saying that we the undersigner have sent these letters," says Jakubec. "We will then take that to Queen's Park and have that read into the record so that this government is held accountable."

Water Wells First will go over their plans at a meeting in Dover at 26918 Baldoon Rd. on January 19 at 9:30am.

Blackburn News reached out to AECOM for a response but have not heard back.
