5km Run/Walk Set for Monday

Lace up your running shoes.

The 1st annual CK Law Enforcement Appreciation Day 5k run/walk is set for Monday, January 9th.

The route starts at the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters at 6 pm.

"We'll be leaving right from the corner of King and Third, and from there CKPS is going to have a cruiser out with some lights and a siren for us to get going," says organizer Jessica Barton. "We'll be heading out on a route to OPP (on Park Ave.). So at OPP there going to have a reception for all us there with a hot chocolate bar."

However, Barton says the roads will not be closed for the run.

"It just kind of blew up into this whole amazing thing, so you have to follow the rules of the road. If you have lights or reflective gear, we highly recommend it because we want people to be safe."

There will be rides back to the CK police headquarters. The event is free but any donations will do to Chatham-Kent Victim Services.
