With just a few days left until Christmas, the Salvation Army in Chatham-Kent is hoping people are still in a giving mood.
Captain Stephanie Watkinson says they still need about $100,000 in donations to reach their $450,000 goal.
"It's about on par with previous years, but we only have a couple days left before Christmas," says Watkinson. "We'd like to close out our campaign on the 24th, but we will extend it through to the 31st so that people can get their tax receipts for the 2016 year."
Watkinson says in addition to monetary donations, they could use some more volunteers who are willing to give up some of their time.
"We're still hurting for volunteers, especially in Chatham." says Watkinson, adding a number of the people who regularly man their kettles have had to cancel over the past couple of weeks. "We've had to pull kettles because of bad weather... a lot of people are coming down with colds and flus and stuff too."
Watkinson says all of their kettles are inside, but bad road conditions have prevented some of their volunteers from making the trip to help out at a station.
The kettle stations are booked in two-hour shifts and there are eight different locations throughout Chatham.
