Hydro One To Reconnect Customers Without Power

Just in time for the winter holidays, Hydro One is working to reconnect power for hundreds of customers who had their electricity cut off because of unpaid bills.

The power provider says it is reaching out to roughly 1,400 residential customers who failed to pay their bills in order to arrange reconnection for the rest of the winter season.

"This program is about doing the right thing for our customers who are experiencing hardship," says Ferio Pugliese, Hydro One's executive vice president of customer care and corporate affairs. "We are changing the way we do business... including how we care for our most vulnerable customers."

Hydro One officials are also promising to waive all of the reconnection fees and to work with the customers to come up with a payment arrangement that they can afford.

As part of its "Winter Relief Program," Hydro One will also be highlighting information on several of the payment assistance programs it already offers including the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program, the Ontario Electricity Support Program, and the Home Assistance Program.

Anyone who is experiencing difficulty with paying their bill is encouraged to contact Hydro One's customer communications centre at 1-888-664-9376 or visit their website.
