Margaret Trudeau Coming To Chatham

Margaret Trudeau will share personal stories of hope and healing at the Chatham Capitol Theatre in the New Year.

The focus will be on mental health, when the mother of Primer Minister Justin Trudeau and ex-wife of former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau lends her voice to raise funds for Family Service Kent.

"We're very excited about having someone of her caliber deliver the message of mental health, and healing your mind and body and soul, and building your life, after tragedy," says Community Development Coordinator Marjorie Crew.

Trudeau will draw from her own experiences fighting a very public battle with bipolar disorder during an hour-long presentation.

"Her story is very inspiring," Crew says. "Her stories, we hope, will inspire and give hope to people living with mental health issues in our community."

If there's one thing Family Service Kent wants to accomplish, Crew says it's to change the conversation about mental health.

"We hope that she helps reduce the stigma of mental health, and how we can all help people who are facing those challenges in our community," she says. "It's a message of hope."

Tickets for an Evening with Margaret Trudeau on February 24 are now on sale at the Chatham-Kent Ticket Box Office. General admission tickets are $55. There's also premium seating available for $85, which includes a meet-and-greet with Trudeau afterwards.
