Dive Team Searching Thames River Near Chatham

A dive team has been called in as Chatham-Kent police search for a 66-year-old man who went missing last night.

Police say it appears the man went missing while he was looking for his dog Sunday night and may have slipped into the Thames River just west of Chatham.

Firefighters were first spotted on the banks of the river near the Prairie Siding bridge on Jacob Rd. at around 8pm Sunday night.

A helicopter was also spotted hovering over the water along the Thames River as far west as Lighthouse Cove.

At the request of the family, the man's name will not be released.
