Holiday Train Passing Through Chatham-Kent

Don't blink or you'll miss it.

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train is passing through Chatham-Kent this year, but it won't be making a stop in the municipality.

It's been about six years since the train has made a stop in CK, but with over 150 stops across North America, CP Rail spokesperson Salem Woodrow says it's difficult to visit every community.

"We are always trying to incorporate new communities into our program," says Woodrow. "Sometimes we don't stop in a community so we can reach a different community, but it's not to say we wouldn't stop there again."

The Holiday Train program runs free events where attendees are encouraged to bring a cash or food donation to support local food banks.

"The Holiday Train is spectacularly lit with hundreds of thousand of LED lights and holiday designs," says Woodrow. "Folks will be able to see it coming and they will hear it coming as we do play holiday music from it as we travel."

Woodrow says if locals in Chatham-Kent would like to see the Holiday Train return, there are ways to go about trying.

"They can reach out to Canadian Pacific, the food bank, the mayor," she says. "Different community leaders can reach out to us and we can look at bringing the Holiday Train program to that community."

For those looking to travel to one of the scheduled stops, the Holiday Train will be in Windsor tonight.

It's not clear exactly when the train will be passing through Chatham-Kent, but it will be stopping at the CP Yard in Windsor at around 4:30pm. That's also where Kelly Prescott and Doc Walker will be performing Wednesday evening.
