Goodfellows Christmas Hampers Filling Up Already

The Chatham Goodfellows' annual Christmas campaign is off to a great start thanks to the generosity of some local businesses.

Chatham Towing teamed up with Portable Storage to purchase a couple thousand dollars worth of non-perishable goods for the Goodfellows and Portable Signs also joined in, by collecting food at the Santa Claus Parade in Chatham on Friday.

Tim Mifflin with the Goodfellows says this will go a long way towards helping them fill all of their Christmas hampers.

"Oftentimes at the end of the day when we're still packing and we still have perhaps three or four hundred boxes to pack we need a stop-gap food," says Mifflin. "This has put us in a much better position than we have been in the past."

Mifflin says the total value of the donation is estimated at over $5,000 dollars and he's especially excited to start the campaign out with a donation like this.

"This is a new group of folks that have come together to donate to the Chatham Goodfellows," says Mifflin. "It was the first event of the year and it was an overwhelming success -- we're very pleased."

The Christmas hampers will go out on December 21.
