Bowling For Hunger And Education

A new fundraiser is looking to help out students in Chatham-Kent who can't cover both tuition and their grocery bill.

"Bowling for Hunger and Education" is raising money for Outreach for Hunger and the St. Clair College Bursary Fund.

"It's going to be used for kids who can't afford to go to school, but would like to go to school," says Brenda LeClair, Executive Director of Outreach for Hunger. "I think it's a great partnership because I've said before that education is the gateway out of poverty."

LeClair says partnering with St. Clair College makes a lot of sense.

"We do see a lot of students coming in who need food assistance," says LeClair. "I always say to them, 'You stay in school, let us put food on your table, you make sure your tuition is paid... get that education and one day you're going to be able to give back."

Teams need to register in groups of four and need to raise at least $500 to enter.

You can find the contact information and a sponsor sheet by clicking here.

The event is taking place on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Bowlerama in Chatham. Registration opens at 8pm, bowling starts at 9pm.
