Southwestern Ontario will likely be sweating through record-breaking temperatures over the next couple days.
Environment Canada is forecasting a high of 25 C (77 F) for Monday, and 26 C (79 F) Tuesday. Humidex levels will make temperatures feel like the low 30s. Historically, the hottest October 17 in Chatham-Kent was back in 1963, at 27.8 C.
But Meteorologist Geoff Coulson says Tuesday will likely be the best chance for the area to break temperature records. As it stands now, October 18, 1950 holds the current record at 26.7 C.
"This has been a continuation of a trend we've seen so far this month," says Coulson. "We've seen a lot more air masses coming from the deep south than we normally do this time of year. That's certainly given us these warm temperatures."
A shift in wind patterns should bringdaytime highs back down to the mid teens starting Thursday.
