The Heaviest Rain Should Miss CK

While areas of Windsor are experiencing some major flooding caused by heavy rainfall, Chatham-Kent looks like it will miss the worst part of the storm.

Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson says the weather agency will be monitoring the situation very closely.

"If it looks like some of the heavier rain could get into the Chatham-Kent area, we could see that rainfall warning extended into Chatham-Kent," says Coulson. "Right now, it looks like Windsor-Essex is expected to bear the brunt of this event."

Coulson says the heavy rain is expected to continue on and off for the rest of the day today and during the day on Friday as well, but the heaviest precipitation will likely remain in the Windsor and Essex County area.

As of 8am Thursday morning, Environment Canada had already received reports from a couple of volunteer observers who recorded rainfall amounts of about 120 mm or 4.7 inches overnight in some areas of Windsor.
