Bantam Cougars Competing For The Title

The Chatham-Kent Cougars Bantam Boys are in Hamilton today facing the Varsity Tiger Cats in the OFC South Division final.

The Cougars advanced to the championship game with a convincing 42-13 win over Burlington in the semi-finals, but head coach Cesar Torres knows Hamilton will be tough to beat.

"We have nothing to lose -- [Hamilton] is undefeated, it's the best team in Ontario," says Torres. "We have a good game plan and the kids are playing with a lot of confidence right now, so we're definitely going to have a better showing than the last time we played them."

The last time the two teams met, the Cougars lost 54-7. Torres says a lot has changed since then.

"We played them in week 3 and we're a completely different team than we were back then," says Torres. "We're healthy now - all of the kids that were banged up are ready to go and we feel good about this game."

No matter the outcome, Torres is proud of how far the team has come.

"We haven't had any playoff success in many years, so win or lose this season has been a huge success and this will be just kind of a bonus," says Torres.

Kickoff for today's game is set for 12pm at Ron Joyce Stadium at McMaster University in Hamilton.
