WB 401 Ramp Closed At Bloomfield Rd.

Westbound drivers on Hwy. 401 will have limited options to get to Chatham this summer.

Construction has closed the westbound on/off-ramp at Bloomfield Rd. until November.

It's part of a series of construction projects that involve repaving sections of the highway. The first phase saw the westbound 401 repaved from County Rd. 42 to Merlin Rd. Now, the westbound lanes between Merlin Rd. and Bloomfield Rd. are being worked on.

"These few sections are at that age where they need to be reconstructed, to make sure the pavement structure's solid and there's a smooth driving surface for travelers," says the Ministry of Transportation's Liane Fisher. "So you'll see a lot of this work taking place over the next few years."

The current stage of repavement will wrap up in Spring 2018.

Westbound highway travelers wanting to go to Chatham will need to use the Hwy. 40 exit for the easiest access.
