Chatham-Kent council will be considering an official plan amendment allowing an agricultural property to grow medical marijuana.
Sunmaster Produce wants to legally produce medical marijuana in a 13-acre greenhouse facility on Rivard Line in Grande Pointe.
It needs a zoning amendment and the municipal planning consultants only raised one red flag and it's minor.
Municipal policy says medical marijuana facilities should be restricted to arterial or collector-type roads and Rivard is not.
However Rivard is a paved road and an inspection by police, fire and engineering services didn't raise any concerns so the planning consultant recommends the zoning change be approved.
